Core Values
Here at Magnitude Cheer, all decisions we make are guided by our five core values. These values have real-life daily applications for staff, parents and athletes within our program.
Respect /Integrity (Character Triumphs Talent)
What it looks like: Listen to coaches, encourage teammates, accept feedback without arguing, follow gym rules, show sportsmanship to other teams.
Action Steps for Athletes:
Greet your coaches and teammates when you arrive at practice.
Listen without interrupting when a coach or teammate is giving instructions.
Keep your practice area clean by picking up trash and putting away equipment.
Apologize when necessary and make things right if you upset a teammate.
Follow all gym rules and safety guidelines, even when no one is watching.
What it looks like: Keep trying even after mistakes, apply corrections, stay late to work on skills, be open to learning new techniques.
Action Steps for Athletes:
After a fall or mistake, own it, reset and try again with a positive attitude.
Set personal skill goals and track progress in a journal.
Ask for extra reps instead of waiting for instruction.
Watch videos of yourself to see where you can improve.
Condition or work on drills during practice down time
What it looks like: Trust stunt partners, communicate clearly, be reliable, celebrate others’ successes, never blame teammates for mistakes.
Action Steps for Athletes:
Verbally check in with stunt partners before each attempt.
Show up on time and ready to work at every practice.
Cheer loudly when a teammate lands a new skill.
If a stunt falls, focus on fixing it together rather than blaming anyone.
Be a role model for younger athletes by setting a good example in attitude and behavior.
What it looks like: Cheer on teammates, bring good energy to practice, stay solution-focused instead of complaining, let the gym shake off bad days.
Action Steps for Athletes:
Say one encouraging thing to a teammate every practice.
Support teammates by clapping or cheering when they succeed.
Smile, even when feeling tired or frustrated.
When struggling, reframe your thoughts from “I can’t do this” to “I’m getting closer.”
Avoid negative talk about teammates, coaches, or other teams.
What it looks like: Stay engaged during practice, avoid distractions (phones, side conversations), listen when coaches are speaking, apply instructions immediately.
Action Steps for Athletes:
Keep phones in bags during practice.
Make eye contact with coaches when receiving corrections.
Repeat the coach’s instruction in your head before executing.
Limit outside distractions by getting enough sleep and eating well before practice.
Set mini SMART goals each practice, week, month, etc.
